Juniors back to thump Banbury and go second in league - Banbury Irish Harps 2 Warwick 6
Juniors returned after the bad weather break to continue winning form with a solid performance against a much improved Banbury side. Having not lost for 5 games Banbury fancied their chances against high flying Warwick who had Jake and Seamus out through illness. Juniors started strongly and played some great football and within minutes scored when Ben C crossed for Harry to volley in at the far post. Within minutes it was 2 when Harry fed a great ball through for Ban C to stoll through and round the keeper to slot in from a tight angle. Warwick lost their shape a little for the rest of the half and Banbury scored right on half time with an unfortunate deflection leaving the ever impressive Alex wrong-footed. Second half sar Warwicks shape improvead they quickly scored the third and fourth. Callum scored the third with a similar goal to Banburys and then minutes later scored from 20 yards with a lofted shot which sailed over the keepers head. Banbury created a few chances but with Galillee and Ben H holding firm and strong and with Jacob pulling the strings in the middle Warwick looked comfortable. The fifth came when some great play was foiled by last ditch defending but with the ball breaking loose for Harry on the left edge of the box a thumping strike across the keeper s body into the left corner. Cameron, who had again shown great versatility playing in defence for periods, created some good chances with strong runs..and only some good defending and a fine stop from the keeper keeping him out. With time up Max got the goal he deserved with a fine strike one on one with the keeper. A good solid return after lack of play and training. MOM Galilee for resolute defending and attitude.
Juniors back to winning ways in gritty solid performance - Warwick 2 Leam Juniors 0
Juniors returned to wining ways with a solid performance against a resolute Leamington side. Although bottom of the league Leamington showed why this was a false position with a gutsy attempt to unsettle high flying Juniors. With Alex pulling out due to a Rugby injury, Harry stepped into goal and showed why he's a good stand-in goalie. With Ben H out the back 2 of Jake and Gal proved solid from the start with Jacob back for his first start in 4 games in the centre. Good wide play from Callum and Ben C provided some good openings for Max but it was a penalty that secured the first goal. A nice through ball from Callum saw Ben C skip past the defender who hacked him down. Ben stepped out to thump the ball to the keepers left. The second half saw Seamus on for Max and Cameron on for Gal who had taken a knock. The second goal game when Jacob slid the ball wide for Seamus to hammer from a tight wide right position across the keeper into the bottom corner. Game over really and the move of the game when Ben C did a lovely step over before crossing for Max to fire just over was one of Warwicks best chances for a third. A Smart save on his post from Harry and very solid defending allroundfrom Jake, Gal and Cameron ensured another clean sheet. Plenty of contenders for MOM but Harry with his last minute stand-in and a few smart stops gets it.
Juniors draw in magnificent game - Khalsa 2 Warwick 2
Juniors returned to league action after the thumping win over Snitterfield and produced a good performance against a very decent Khalsa side. Early end to end play showed how this game was going to go and Khalsa struck first when a cross found an unmarked player to tap in. Warwick then struggled for 10 minutes to get back into it and Khalsa could have been home and dry but for 2 poor finishes. Minutes before half time Seamus replaced an unusually quiet Max and immediately equalised with a good left foot snap shot which went through several players and past a blinded keeper. Second half was very even and Khalsa went 2-1 up with a fine free kick from 20 yards beating an overwise in command Alex. With time running out Warwick pressed and got their reward when Seamus again fired in from a tight angle across the keeper. Another good performance and MOM Seamus
Juniors turn on style against resilient Snitterfield - Warwick 4 Snitterfield 0
Another fine sunny morning and this time Warwick looked imperial from the off against a much improved Snitterfield as they marched into the quarter finals of the cup. Great early play and passing moves saw Snitterfield desperate to keep Juniors at bay but 10 minutes in a quick corner saw max turn 2 players before cooly slotting past the despairing keeper. " minutes later and a quick break starting with an overhead clearance from Callum into Harry Taylor who provided fantastic wide play before sliding to Max to slot home into the far corner..maybe goal of the season - time will tell! Then, to cap off probably the best individual performance of the season Harry Taylor received a lovely ball from Callum and beautifully struck across the keeper from the right into the far corner. Second half started the same but a resilient Snitterfield more involved and creating chances of their own but with Jake And Galillee producing their own performance of the seasons and Alex mopping up anything that did get through, Juniors never really looked uncomfortable. Ben C returning from holiday replaced Ben H, who had played his first game in midfield and was very unlucky not to score with 3 or 4 half chances going begging, went on an amazing run beating 2 players before being chopped down by a third...penalty to Juniors and a hatrick chance for Max? A great strike but an amazing save from the huge keeper kept out Max and another save from Harry on the rebound had jaws dropping. The rest of the game evened out with a battling role from Cameron who had played upfront in midfield and now at the back to replace a tiring Galilee but a fourth eventually came from a Harry corner which Callum headed in at the far post..game over for sure....what a performance that was and MOM could have gone to each and every one but Harry Taylors performance was amazing.
Norton Colts edge out Juniors - Warwick 1 Norton Colts 2
Warwick entertained Nortons Colts on a fine sunny morning but unfortunately didn't wake up until they went 2 down early on. An unfortunate own goal from Cameron from a crossed ball which Cam head past a stranded Alex, and then another sloppy defensive display saw the Norton player waltz into the area and slide into an open goal. Max scored a fine goal when Jacob slid a great ball through into space and Max slotted home past the advancing keeper. Second half was very even with both sides creating chances. Warwicks best chance fell to Cameron who shaped well and hit a nice volley which was deflected wide. Callum and Max caused a few problems but to be fair Norton created the clearer cut chances and the game petered out with another reverse against a Norton side. A battling display after the first few minutes..MOM, Alex was outstanding as were Ben Hawkes and Gallilee but Jacob edges it for a battling display
Fine performance trounces Kenilworth Wardens - Wardens 1 Juniors 4
Warwick continued their fine form after a week away from action with a thumping display against Wardens which could have seen Juniors score 10. Despite the absence of Ben C and in form striker Max, early pressure eventually paid off with a cool finish from Jacob, who rounded the keeper after a fine run. Jacob also had a great free kick saved from an impressive Wardens keeper. Several chances went begging with the impressive strength from Cameron and great wing play from Callum and Harry ensuring Wardens never attacked and Juniors created good chances. Half time and 1 up was always going to be a concern but with the team told to continue as they were as surely more would come they went out and were quickly 2 up with a cross from Harry shielded by Seamus for Callum to thump home at the far post. Within minutes it was 3 when a rasping 30 yard drive from Seamus confirmed his renewed Confidence. The fourth came with great play from Jacob and Callum freeing Seamus down the left to strike a peach across the goal into the far corner. With the game won Wardens to their credit actually got back into the game when they could have folded and a very late clever strike provided scant consolation. Allround solid performance and they couldn't have played much better. Alex made some great saves late on, Ben Hawkes was commanding with Gallilee and Jake,Jacob controlled the midfield with Harry and Callum dazzling out wide but the MOM goes to Seamus and Cameron who showed strength and dominance throughout!
Great game to end season
Warwick ended s topsy turvy season with a great game ending in narrow defeat 3-4 against Central Ajax. A battling first half ending 0-0 after efforts from Jonny, Seamus and Harry in particular coming close. A great save from Alex with solid performances from Dillon, Jake and Jamie in front of him, restricted Ajax to little joy. The second half saw Ajax take the lead when Juniors switched off on a corner. An immediate response saw Cameron slide the ball past the keeper and 2 minutes later a fine finish from Mikey at the far post put Warwick ahead. Ajax equalised with a lucky goal before Jacob saw a well struck penalty hit the post after Cameron had been brought down after rounding the keeper. Amazingly Ajax took the lead with another fortunate goal before Ben C headed Warwick level. With the referee already indicating time up amazingly Ajax then ent up the field to hit a winner...had Ajax been to the Alex Ferguson school of pressurising the ref for additional time? Unlucky but good team effort..MOM Dylan for his central midfield role first half.
victory over Leamington Juniors
Warwick continued there end of season good form with a convincing 2-1 win and performance over cup finalists Leamington Juniors. Right from the start Juniors took command and scored with a fine finish by Jonny Barton after good strength from Seamus best the last defender. A quiet first half for Alex ensued as Jake and Ben H showed good defensive prowess to avert any Leamington attacks and with Dylan in central midfield good in the challenge Warwick looked comfortable. The second half saw Jamie join Jake at the back and Ben H moving into midfield with Jacob and Ben C. Wave after wave of Warwick attacks continued and a great chance for the impressive Cameron and two one on ones for Ben H failed to extend the lead. Then a great goal from Leamington undeservedly gave them a route back into the game. Warwick never gave up and eventually got the winner with smart move from Cameron crossing for Harry to cooly slot the ball home. Another good performance but this time getting the right result and good defensive work from the whole team ensuring 3 points...MOM was everywhere with head body and tackle..Jake Vella
Harsh defeat to Taz
Warwick went down underservedly to Taz Cruisers 1-2 on a fine sunny day. A goal from Harry Taylor with his first touch, driving from the right hand side under the keeper was cancelled out by a cool finish and a penalty. Overall though great attitude and effort but the wrong result...MOM Dylan for not giving up
Great battling win at Snitterfield
Warwicks good form continued with a battling 4-3 win away at Snitterfield. With managers Gary and Adrian away Ruth marshalled the troops with help from Dean, Steve and others and with players missing a good win was achieved......MOM Mikey..destroyed Snitterfield with great wing play
Emphatic victory over Bilton
Warwick emphatically beat Bilton Ajax 2-4 on a gloriously sunny day, despite having most of the squad away on holiday. Although the scoreline flattered Bilton, Warwick were never in danger of losing a game that, with a tad more luck would have seen double figures in the goal column. In the first minute the whites took the lead when a great passing move involving most of the team saw Max cooly slot home. Wave after wave of Warwick play, particularly on the left side where Ben C was destroying the poor defenders, saw chance after chance either just miss or hit the woodwork until the second goal was scored by the ever impressive Jacob from a corner kick. Amazingly, Bilton pulled one back on the stroke of half time when the very impressive Jake and Jamie were beaten to the ball for probably the only time in the game. The second half started and Warwick continued the pressure when Ben crossed for Jamie to hit the roof of the net from 6 yards. The fourth goal game when Cameron bundled the ball over the line showing strength, as he did all afternoon. Excellent wing play from Mikey where he beat players and played some great through balls, created more chances and on another day Cameron and Max would have had hatricks. bobby produced a fine save late on but overall an impressive display on a hot day and players playing in unfamiliar positions was very pleasing to see. MOM Ben C
