Great game to end season

Warwick ended s topsy turvy season with a great game ending in narrow defeat 3-4 against Central Ajax. A battling first half ending 0-0 after efforts from Jonny, Seamus and Harry in particular coming close. A great save from Alex with solid performances from Dillon, Jake and Jamie in front of him, restricted Ajax to little joy. The second half saw Ajax take the lead when Juniors switched off on a corner. An immediate response saw Cameron slide the ball past the keeper and 2 minutes later a fine finish from Mikey at the far post put Warwick ahead. Ajax equalised with a lucky goal before Jacob saw a well struck penalty hit the post after Cameron had been brought down after rounding the keeper. Amazingly Ajax took the lead with another fortunate goal before Ben C headed Warwick level. With the referee already indicating time up amazingly Ajax then ent up the field to hit a winner...had Ajax been to the Alex Ferguson school of pressurising the ref for additional time? Unlucky but good team effort..MOM Dylan for his central midfield role first half.

 victory over Leamington Juniors

Warwick continued there end of season good form with a convincing 2-1 win and performance over cup finalists Leamington Juniors. Right from the start Juniors took command and scored with a fine finish by Jonny Barton after good strength from Seamus best the last defender. A quiet first half for Alex ensued as Jake and Ben H showed good defensive prowess to avert any Leamington attacks and with Dylan in central midfield good in the challenge Warwick looked comfortable. The second half saw Jamie join Jake at the back and Ben H moving into midfield with Jacob and Ben C. Wave after wave of Warwick attacks continued and a great chance for the impressive Cameron and two one on ones for Ben H failed to extend the lead. Then a great goal from Leamington undeservedly gave them a route back into the game. Warwick never gave up and eventually got the winner with  smart move from Cameron crossing for Harry to cooly slot the ball home. Another good performance but this time getting the right result and good defensive work from the whole team ensuring 3 points...MOM was everywhere with head body and tackle..Jake Vella

 Harsh defeat to Taz

Warwick went down underservedly to Taz Cruisers 1-2 on a fine sunny day. A goal from Harry Taylor with his first touch, driving from the right hand side under the keeper was cancelled out by a cool finish and a penalty. Overall though great attitude and effort but the wrong result...MOM Dylan for not giving up

Great battling win at Snitterfield

Warwicks good form continued with a battling 4-3 win away at Snitterfield. With managers Gary and Adrian away Ruth marshalled the troops with help from Dean, Steve and others and with players missing a good win was achieved......MOM Mikey..destroyed Snitterfield with great wing play

Emphatic victory over Bilton

Warwick emphatically beat Bilton Ajax 2-4 on a gloriously sunny day, despite having most of the squad away on holiday. Although the scoreline flattered Bilton, Warwick were never in danger of losing a game that, with a tad more luck would have seen double figures in the goal column. In the first minute the whites took the lead when a great passing move involving most of the team saw Max cooly slot home. Wave after wave of Warwick play, particularly on the left side where Ben C was destroying the poor defenders, saw chance after chance either just miss or hit the woodwork until the second goal was scored by the ever impressive Jacob from a corner kick. Amazingly, Bilton pulled one back on the stroke of half time when the very impressive Jake and Jamie were beaten to the ball for probably the only time in the game. The second half started and Warwick continued the pressure when Ben crossed for Jamie to hit the roof of the net from 6 yards. The fourth goal game when Cameron bundled the ball over the line showing strength, as he did all afternoon. Excellent wing play from Mikey where he beat players and played some great through balls, created more chances and on another day Cameron and Max would have had hatricks. bobby produced a fine save late on but overall an impressive display on a hot day and players playing in unfamiliar positions was very pleasing to see. MOM Ben C

Great battle ends in draw with Khalsa

Warwick Juniors produced one of their best performances of the season in an enthralling draw at home with Khalsa. The whites were comfortable in the first half with the impressive Jake and Ben H stopping everything Khlasa threw at them. Cam filled in for the missing Jacob in central midfield and was strong in the tackle and had very good distribution to the 2 wide men Harry and Jonny who looked a threat every time they got the ball. Seamus showed some nice touches and running despite illness. Second half saw Khalsa take the lead against the run of play when a rare mistake by the Warwick defence saw the Khalsa man slip the ball past an advancing Bobby in goal. Warwick quickly equalised when a great through ball from Ben C saw Harry one on one with the keeper and he cooly slotted to the keepers left. Constant Warwick pressure looked like producing a few goals but unbelievably Warwick went 2-1 down with 10 minutes left when an unmarked Khalsa man slotted home at the far post after a good cross from out wide stunned the defenders and keeper when it looked like no danger loomed. Juniors then went for it pushing Ben H into midfield and deservedly equalised when Ben C slammed the ball home in the final few minutes after some good pressure. Overall Warwick can be proud of their battling display with players missing and the confidence looked like it had finally returned..MOM Jake V and Ben H

Defeat at Irish

Warwick Juniors were comprehensively beaten 3-0 by an average, but well organised, Banbury Irish. On a wet and windy morning and with several first choice players missing Warwick never got into gear in a poor overall performance. Although the defending was a lot tighter this week the lack of any passing or outlet meant  that the defence were always up against it. Good performances from Jamie and Jake kept the score to 3, and against the likes of Banbury it shows just how low the team are looking at the moment. With not many games left now the lads must show they want to be playing next season for the team. MOM Jamie

Tough battle in Norton defeat

Warwick Juniors fought gallantly against top of the table Norton and showed much determination and attitude despite the scoreline. Juniors took the lead in the first minute when Jonny placed the ball to the keepers left after cutting inside. Warwick nearly doubled their lead a minute later when Harry hit a great shot from the edge of the penalty box but hit the woodwork. Norton got back into the game and then hit a rasping second goal to take the lead. the only piece of poor play from Warwick resulted in a 3rd goal on the stroke of half time. A penalty miss early in the second half from Seamus may have meant for a much closer game but Norton then showed some good play to score twice more. Overall a much better performance than recent weeks and the attitude was more much better all round. MOM Mikey

Cup Semi-final exit to Wellesbourne

Warwick crashed out of the Supplementary cup after defeat to 2nd Division Wellesbourne. The game started brightly for Juniors with plenty of early possession without creating any clear cut chances..but again, as it was last week, 2 goals were conceded when the opposition were allowed too much space to run at the Warwick rearguard. A third goal early 2nd half when the referee awarded a penalty pretty much consigned Warwick to concentrating on league action. The final ten minutes saw Warwick pushing forward and a late Seamus goal after a couple of near misses from Dylan and Dan was scant consolation for the boys. A shocking referee also red carded the Warwick Manager after apparently shouting too loudly whilst grabbing his attention to make a substitution.

Home defeat to Admirals

Warwicks up and down league season continued at home on Saturday with defeat to Admirals, who revenged the recent quarter final defeat by the Under 9's. A sloppy start saw an early goal for Admirals when an unmarked player slid the ball into the net from 5 yards. 3 minutes later it was 2-0 when again an unmarked player shot from 20 yards high into the net leaving Alex with no chance. Chances were few and far between for Warwick..Jonny who had another good game came close after a mazy left wing run but his shot slid agonisingly wide of the keepers left post. The only other real chance saw the referee not give a goal when it looked clearly like the ball had crossed the line, but the opposing linesman gave no goal, despite looking guilty as hell! Ben H again marked the dangerous Mohican haired striker out of the game with a performance that had the opposition management in awe of his effort. The second half saw much of the same with very few chances being created by either side. Warwick had the perfect opportunity to get back into the game when the referee awarded a penalty for handball. Jacob, who had put Warwick ahead in the quarter final tie from the spot this time hit the ball straight to the keeper. A lifeline for Juniors came with 6 minutes left when a scramble in the box saw the ball fall loose to Jack who side footed home. A much better second half but consistency is still causing a few problems for a team who should be producing the goods.

Under 9's defeat Khalsa away 2-0

Warwick revenged last seasons only league defeat with a committed performance against a physically powerful Khalsa side. The game started very evenly with very few chances created by either side with the game being played in the middle of Khalsa huge pitch. The only real chances of note came from a Khalsa effort striking a post and a Jack snapshot blocked by the keeper. Good wing work all first half from Ben C came to nothing as the sides went into half time 0-0, with the defence of Ben H and Jake commanding Khalsas frontline convincingly. The second half saw much of the same although it took a few minutes for the swathe of Warwick substitutions to settle down, with Jamie producing a fine defensive performance and Dan showing great skill down the right. But the star of the show was Jonny who constantly drove the ball down the left and caused all sorts of problems for Khalsa. Jonny eventually put under 9's ahead cutting inside after beating a defender on the right and calmly placing the ball to the keepers left. The goal lifted Warwick and with Dylan coming on for Jacob who had produced another solid display Juniors again had extra life and dylan slotted in comfortably with some fine tackles and passes. Seamus had a couple of half chances but the game was killed off right at the end when Johnny latched onto a loose ball and drove the ball into the bottom corner from a tight angle on the left. Another fine performance, more from the effort side this week, but it shows that even when the team isn't playing too well they can produce results with sheer effort. MOM Jonny

Juniors march into Semi-finals to play Wellesbourne

Warwick Under 9's produced probably their best performance of the season to romp home 5-1 against a very strong Admirals side. The game was played at Admirals due to pitch allocation problems, but this did not deter Juniors as they started strongly. A penalty for handball was harshly awarded after 5 minutes but a superb left handed save by the outstanding Alex kept the score goaless. 2 minutes later Juniors were awarded a penalty when Jonny was brought down through on goal. Jacobs superbly taken penalty put Whites one up and they never looked back. 3 minutes later a fantastic passage of play ended with the ever impressive Jack calmly placing the ball to the keepers left. Admirals kept going and some incredible saves from Alex kept them out again and again. Approaching half time a clever through ball from Jonny put Jack through again and he calmly chipped the advancing keeper to put Juniors 3 up. Admirals scored a deserved goal on half time to keep the match alive. Second half saw Dylan replace Harry who had worked tirelessly all first half, and Ben C replace Jonny who had been magnificent. Jamie came on for Jake who had taken a knock. The changes didn't affect Juniors who again played some delightful football. Admirals gave it their all and a magnificent left handed save at the start of the second half and 2 further penalty saves from Alex ensured Warwick marched into the Semi Finals. Second half goals from Ben C, coming from superb play from Dylan who had a great battling second half..and a late Jonny drive from wide out probably gave the scoreline a little flattery against a very good Admirals team. All in all every player was magnificent with Ben H superbly marshalling the Admirals danger man, Jake and Jamie covering well all game, Jacob orchestrating in the middle and Dan coming on up front for Jack and making some good touches ..but Man of the match was Alex, with one of the best displays in goal I've seen for a long time. Juniors will play 2nd division Wellesbourne who cruised past Bilton Ajax 11-1.

Bilton away postponed

Under 9's away fixture at Bilton Ajax was postponed on Saturday morning, but not until the teams had travelled over and warmed up ready to go! The referee abandoned the game despite waiting an extra 30 minutes, but alas, the pitch was still deemed unplayable.Posted by Gary Vella | Saturday 30th of January 2010 09:14:15 PM

Bilton away for Under 9's

Juniors travel to Bilton Ajax this weekend as they look to get some consistency in the league. Bilton are rock bottom and Warwick will be looking to play their flowing football to gain momentum going into the final stages of the season and the all important cup quarter finalPosted by Gary Vella | Thursday 28th of January 2010 06:36:16 AM

Rusty Juniors beaten by Wardens

Under 9's were well beaten by Kenilworth Wardens Juniors but were by no means disgraced in their performance. A slack first half performance, only given respectibility by the impressive Alex in goal, who produced several first class saves, saw Juniors rarely threaten the Wardens keeper. A mush better second half display saw a much more even match but Wardens superiority on the break saw 3 more goals to the Oranges. Missing the influential Jacob, Juniors can look back at the game and think they are getting closer to the obviously superior team in the league this season.Posted by Gary Vella | Saturday 23rd of January 2010 08:33:43 PM

big Freeze halts games

Saturdays game against Central Ajax was postponed due to the snow and ice and it's looking touch and go for Saturday 16th, even if there is no more white stuff. If the game does go ahead, Juniors will look to get their first double of the season after they defeated Leamington 4-3 at Myton back in September.Posted by Gary Vella | Monday 11th of January 2010 08:13:58 PM

League action returns

Under 9's return to league action this Saturday when they entertain Central Ajax Juniors when they hope to avenge the early season 1-4 defeat.Posted by Gary Vella | Sunday 3rd of January 2010 10:33:25 PM

Under 9's returned to winning ways in the league after last weeks thumping cup win. An 8-2 away win at Woodford in the end flattered the home side as Warwick threatened to score 15..and all this after a very tight opening 10 minutes in which Juniors looked out of position and ideas. Whether it was the biting cold wind or the long distance travelled to the game, who knows, but once they warmed up, Warwick again showed why they threaten to become an awesome team as they destroyed Woodford with quick passing and movement. Jacob opened the scoring with what was probably Warwicks first real chance with a cool finish and 2 quick and calm finishes from the on form Jonny and a long range left footed effort from strike ace Seamus saw a halftime 0-4 lead. Ben H and Jake looked assured after the early pressure from Woodford and looking comfortable the Manager brought on Jack, Jamie, Dylan and Daniel for the second half and it quickly showed that the early season problem of having too many players is quickly becoming an asset as the team gel together. A Fifth goal from the impressive Daniel, 2 from the awesome Jack who ran the defence ragged every time he had the ball and a tap-in from Cam quickly wound up the game and 2 late goals from Woodford which failed to threaten Juniors saw Warwick looking comfortable again in the league. MOM Jack Rawlins, superb work rate and skill and almost a goal that Maradona would have been proud of!Posted by Gary Vella | Saturday 12th of December 2009 09:02:08 PM

Admirals in Qtr Final Cup Draw

While the boys return to League action this weekend away at Woodford United the draw for the Quarter Final of the cup has been made with Warwick at home to Admirals on the 6th February.Posted by Gary Vella | Thursday 10th of December 2009 06:32:04 PM

Juniors thump Central Ajax to progress to Quarter Finals

Under 9's returned to their sublime best as they destroyed Central Ajax Colts to progress to the supplementary cup Quarter Final. In arguably the best performance of the season, Juniors passing and quick movement quickly saw good early goals scored from Ben C, who ended up with 4 in a first half that saw Jacob add another to see Warick go into a commanding 5-0 lead. The second half saw 3 changes but no let up of Warwick pressure as wave after wave of good football depleted the Ajax confidence further. Excellent closing down, movement from set pieces, particularly the corners worked on in training, and excellent shooting and decision making saw another 7 second half goals, and, truth be told, it could have been 20-0. Such was the dominance Ben H, Jake and Mikey were having one of their easier games and Bobby who replaced Alex at Half time did not touch the ball. MOM Harry Taylor, who was magnificent in his wing play, chasing down and general awareness. Scorers Ben C 4, Jonny 2, Jacob 1, Jack 1, Harry 1, Jake 1, Mikey 1, OG 1Posted by Gary Vella | Saturday 5th of December 2009 08:59:23 PM

Silverware march for Under 9's on Saturday 5th

Juniors aim to put their recent league form behind them when they return to cup action on Saturday 5th against Central Ajax Colts, as they bid for a quarter final berth. After their early 2nd round exit versus Kenilworth Wardens in the league Cup, the Supplementary entry beckoned, and they aim to beat Ajax who themselves were beaten 10-0 versus Alveston in the Primary competition.Posted by Gary Vella | Monday 30th of November 2009 08:41:53 PM

Juniors first ever loss at home!

Under 9's amazingly lost 0-3 to a defiant Banbury Irish, despite having 90% of possession, 15 shots to 4 and having man for man a far superior team! Any faint hopes of a title challenge have now been replaced by thoughts of a 'transition season' and ensuring the remainder of the season sees us progress ready for next year, when we must ensure we prove we have the best set of players in this league. Straight from kickoff Juniorsshould have scored when a delightful through from Jack fed Harry whose shot was well saved by the Keeper. Wave after wave of Juniors attacks came to nothing although a controversial refereeing decision, when the ball had clearly crossed the line and the Banbury keeper punching the ground a clear give away, the elusive first goal didn't come. The same vein continued second half and amazingly Warwick went 1 down when a corner to the near post was sidefooted in as no Warwick Player picked up the scorer. With 20 minutes left surely Warwick would reverse this set back, but no, chance after chance was spurned and inevitabley asthe Whites pushed forward the second goal with 4 minutes left killed off any remaining hopes. Overall, bad luck was the reason for this reverse as the boys played some of the best football of season. MOM Awesome performances all round, particularly from Jake and Jamie at the back but it goes to Ben C for tireless work and chance creation.Posted by Gary Vella | Saturday 28th of November 2009 02:19:45 PM

Great performance marred by poor start against Norton Lindsey

Under 9's produced their most spirited performance of the season against unbeaten Norton Lindsey but only after poor defensive play in the first 15 minutes had allowed the hosts to get out of reach with a 4-0 lead! Alex had no chance with all goals as Warwick just didn't get close enough to stop long range efforts. If the game had started at this point then Juniors would have been very proud and undoubted winners as they battled and produced chance after chance and made the home side look very ordinary. The remainder of the first half was Warwicks and this continued into the next phase as eEarly pressure in the second half saw Ben C fire home from 6 yards after dogged play from Jacob, dylan and Harry. Lindsey scored again despite constant Juniors pressure for that second goal and when Juniors scored another smart goal when Ben C found Harry in acres of space to fire home from 20 yards it seemed a slight possibility that a point or more could be pulled from the game. Alas, the constant waves of Warwick pressure came to no more goals and a late scrambled goal from Norton ended the game 6-2 to the hosts. The boys can be proud that they made Norton look ordinary once they had woken up..our time will come..and soon. MOM Jamie for his endeavour and for changing the game when he came on.Posted by Gary Vella | Saturday 21st of November 2009 12:13:43 PM

Under 9's win in tight contest versus snitterfield

Under 9's put last weekends cup exit behind them as they won 4-3 against a spirited Snitterfield at Myton. Juniors took the game to Snitterfield early and created several chances before Ben C converted to settle the whites nerves. In a half where Snitterfield rarely threatened Junoirs snatched a deserved second from a Jacob corner that was smartly converted by Harry at the back post. The second half saw the wind trouble Juniors and they struggled to continue the first half domination. Snitterfield created a couple of good chances before pulling one back. This seemed to spur Juniors on and good attacking play from Ben C and Jonny saw Daniel score his first goal for the club when he refused to give up on a loose ball in the box to force the ball over the line. Snitterfield came back with another goal and it seemed Juniors may fail to hold on to the points when a quick breakaway say a good line ball from Jonny played to Seamus who delivered a great cross for Harry to side foot in at the far post. A last kick of the game Snitterfield goal made no difference to the result as Juniors held on for 3 valuable points in the quest to win the league title. MOM DanielPosted by Gary Vella | Saturday 14th of November 2009 02:15:33 PM

Under 9's lose to Wardens in Cup

Warwick gave a much improved performance compared to the recent league game and were unlucky to go into the break 2 down, with both Wardens goals coming from break aways from Juniors attacks. The second half saw Wardens score 5 more as Juniors threw everything at Kenilworth but to no avail. MOM Bobby J for some stunning saves Verdict: The scoreline flattered Wardens as their management mentioned and Juniors will feel they can beat them in the league next time out.Posted by Gary Vella | Saturday 7th of November 2009 11:46:43 AM

Tough test in Cup for Under 9's

Warwick Under 9's return to Glasshouse Lane on Saturday 7th to play Kenilworth Wardens in the Cup. Under 9's thump Cruisers

Warwick Juniors romped to victory against strong opposition in Taz Cruisers on Saturday morning. On a crisp cold day Juniors quickly got into gear and created chance after chance without getting the all important first goal. Chances fell to Seamus, Jacob and Jonny but a little bit of composure was missing. In the end the great passing and dominance was rewarded when the ball fell to Seamus who cooly slotted past the stranded keeper. 2 minutes later it was 2 when a great control and shot from Jacob hit the back of the net from 25 yards. Ben C soon made it 3 with a cool finish and half time was a happy place for Juniors. The second half, with the job already done, Juniors struggled to match the first half form but still restricted the opposition to few chances. A couple of good stops from Bobby and great defending from Jake and Jamie ensured the 3 goal lead was not going to slip. A fourth goal came down the left when jonny did what he does so well and destroyed the opposing right back before cutting inside and cooly slotting into the far corner. An all round top performance and it's quickly looking like the team is gelling and will be the force they looked like being last year. Man Of The Match Jake VellaPosted by Gary Vella | Saturday 17th of October 2009 02:23:19 PM

Taz Cruisers next for confident Under 9's

Tazmanian Cruisers provide stiff opposition on Saturday for Warwick Under 9's. The 2 games last season were close affairs with Juniors edging Taz out 4-2 at home and 3-1 away. Kick-off at 10:30 at Campion SchoolPosted by Gary Vella | Sunday 11th of October 2009 10:39:58 PM

Under 9's back to winning ways

Warwick Juniors Under 9's came back from the previous weeks poor performance to brush aside a spirited Bilton Ajax. The game started strongly for Juniors with several chances being spurned until Ben C put the Whites ahead. Bilton hit back twice from behind and the scores went in 2-2 at HT. The second half saw Juniors back to their passing best and the 8-2 scoreline flattered Bilton as wave after wave of Juniors attacks must have made the opposing manager wonder what the score could have been if Warwick had played the whole game in this manner. A hatrick from Jack, 2 from Man Of The Match Jonny, and one each from Ben C, Seamus and Harry ensured a comfortable return to winning ways.Posted by Gary Vella | Saturday 10th of October 2009 02:29:25 PM

No truth in Vella/Court resignation rumours

Rumours on Monday that the Under 9's Management team had resigned were quickly dispelled by the club. At a press conference, Warwick Maestro Dean Brandrick, angrily denied that the promising future England Manager and assistant Gary Vella and Adrian Court had resigned after the Kenilworth Wardens thrashing on Saturday, emphasising that Vellas record spoke for itself, and that this was only the 3rd defeat in 23 games. I'm not one to sack my Managers, said Brandrick, chomping a big fat cigar, however if he loses again he's out! Dogsbody Kim was not asked to comment for fear of offending the duo!Posted by Gary Vella | Monday 5th of October 2009 06:01:25 PM

Under 9's get footballing lesson from Wardens

The Under 9's were comprehensively beaten by Wardens on a blustery morning. Against the wind the boys did well to keep the score low in the first half but the constant pressure told and they went in 4 down at half time. The second half saw the reverse of the pressure but Warwick failed to capitalise in the final third of the field. A 7-2 defeat showed the Warwick Club exactly how hard this league is going to be this year.Posted by Gary Vella | Monday 5th of October 2009 12:13:40 PM
